20-5. Speech Language Pathologists

20-5.1. Staff Development Workshop.

The BOARD shall also conduct one annual staff development workshop for speech pathology teachers and speech language pathologists.

20-5.2. Protocols and Supplies.

The BOARD shall provide to all clinicians the number of protocols in proportion to the number of students and schools that they are assigned to service. The BOARD shall make those protocols and supplies available for distribution to all clinicians on the first day of attendance for clinicians.

20-5.3. SLPAs.

The BOARD and the UNION will discuss the updated SLP Practice Act (updated July 2023) to consider the possibility of hiring SLPAs.

20-5.4. Bilingual SLP Evaluations.

SLPs conducting bilingual speech and language evaluations shall be provided with access to appropriate assessments materials to complete the assigned evaluation. The BOARD shall offer Bilingual SLPs professional development to support the diverse needs of the bilingual student population.

20-5.5. New Hire Supports.

During the first year of employment, newly hired SLPs shall be assigned mentors by the Office for Students with Disabilities.
