Side Letter on Teacher Assistants

The parties estimate that the provisions of Article 17 (Early Childhood), Article 28 (Class Size), and Article 49-20 (Bilingual) will contribute to the need for additional Teacher Assistant positions, with an anticipated increase of approximately 400 additional Teacher Assistant positions. While the Board will implement the staffing as required by these articles, the parties acknowledge that the actual number of additional teacher assistant positions may vary. Therefore, the projection of 400 additional teacher assistant positions shall not be subject to the grievance process, annual projections of class size staffing needs, or any other challenge, nor may it be cited or relied upon for any purpose.
