10-6. College and Career Coach (“CCC”) Classification

10-6.1. Class and Duties/Responsibilities

College and Career Coaches are non-instructional employees who assist school staff, students, parents and school communities in creating a college-going environment, assist students in preparing for post-secondary education and careers, and track metrics to support their function.

10-6.2. Licensure

Licensure is not required.

10-6.3. Exempt Status

CCCs are exempt professional employees.

10-6.4. Status Quo after Recognition

No CCC shall suffer a loss in salary or benefits due to the agreement to bring CCC into the bargaining unit in December 2015. Employees currently classified as post-secondary liaisons shall be reclassified as College and Career Coaches.

10-6.5. Applicability of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

All provisions of the CBA applicable to PSRPs also apply to CCCs unless they specifically conflict with the provisions of this Article.

10-6.6. Salaries

10-6.6(a)Grade

CCC employees shall be placed on the appropriate PSRP Job Titles & Grades listed in Appendix A.

10-6.6(b)Step placement

New hires and transfers will be placed on Step 1 or any appropriate advanced step in accordance with CPS policies.

10-6.7. Saturday/Sunday Work

CCCs’ who are required to work on a Saturday or Sunday will be paid a non-pensionable stipend of $125 per day for work on those days. This amount will be increased each year by the COLA.

10-6.8. Supply Stipend

CCCs shall receive the supply money stipend provided for in Article 7-6.

10-6.9. Regular Work Day and Work Year

10-6.9(a)Regular Work Day

  1. CCCs shall work an eight-hour work day, inclusive of a forty-five minute duty-free lunch period.

  2. The practice of one attendance swipe per day shall be maintained. The work day shall normally begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m.; however, start and end times may vary according to school start and end times as well as any meetings prior to or after school (e.g., if a CCC is assigned to a school that starts at 8:30 a.m. and has administrative meetings at 7:30 a.m. that the CCC is required to attend, the CCCs’ day would start at 7:30 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m.)

  3. It is understood that CCCs may be required to work outside their regular workday or work week schedule.

  4. On non-student attendance days, if Central Office employees are provided the option to work remotely, College and Career Coaches will also be afforded the same opportunity, except in cases where operational needs necessitate their on-site presence. If Central Office employees are provided the option to work remotely, College and Career Coaches will also be afforded the same opportunity, except in cases where operational needs necessitate their on-site presence.

10-6.9(b)Work Year

CCCs are continuously employed on a 12 month, 52-week schedule unless they are a current CCC grandfathered into a different work year schedule.

10-6.10. Vacation Accrual and Scheduling

10-6.10(a)Vacation Accrual

As 52-week employees, CCCs will accrue vacation in accordance with the BOARD’s Paid Time Off Policy.

10-6.10(b)Vacation Scheduling

Schools may create vacation black-out periods during which CCCs will not be permitted to schedule vacations. In other periods, vacation requests of one week or less shall not be denied absent justification. Vacation requests of 2 consecutive or more weeks shall be discussed with the principal or supervisor and accommodated to the extent possible provided that the work of the school is not disrupted.

10-6.11. Layoff and Recall

10-6.11(a)CCCs will be subject to [Appendix I](I.html)

10-6.11(b)When a vacancy is posted in a CCC position, the hiring manager will interview any laid off CCC whose layoff was effective within the last two years who applies to fill the vacancy

10-6.12. Ad Hoc Committee

CCCs shall have an ad hoc Professional Problems Committee which shall meet on an as needed basis, at the call of either the Union or the BOARD to discuss issues of mutual concern and interest, including recommendations from CCCs on how to improve the work of the CCCs.

10-6.13. Reimbursement

CCCs will be reimbursed for mileage in accordance with the Board’s Employee Travel and Work Related Expense Reimbursement Policy.

10-6.14. Workspace

CCCs shall be provided a dedicated workspace in that at a minimum has a desk, chair, internet, and a laptop.

10-6.15. Professional Development

The BOARD shall offer CCCs access to relevant professional development to be scheduled in coordination with the CCC’s supervisor.

10-6.16. Discipline

Discipline for CCCs shall be issued in accordance with Articles 9 and 29 of the CBA. CCC discharge procedures will be governed under the same terms as delineated for PSRPs.
