13-11. Sports Equipment, Uniforms, Supplies, Athletic Trainer and Transportation Funding

The Board shall allocate at least $5 million for these purposes during the 2024–2025 school year and distribute the funds in accordance with the CTU-CPS Joint Sports Agreement dated June 30, 2021 provided coaches, elementary school sports liaisons, and part-time athletic directors shall receive payments of at least equal amounts as they received in SY2023-24 under the June 30, 2021 Agreement. Effective School Year 2025-2026, the Board shall allocate $10 million per year in funding toward this purpose.The Joint Sports Committee shall evaluate the allocation of resources with a focus on equity, and shall reach agreement by end of school year 24-25 on a new allocation formula prioritizing schools where at least 75% of students are identified as economically disadvantaged, as defined by the standards outlined in the 2023-2024 CPS Demographics Report. Until such agreement is reached, all high schools will receive an allocation for sports equipment, uniforms, supplies, transportation, athletic trainers that is 1.5 times the amount that elementary schools receive. Schools shall spend these funds on needed equipment, uniforms, supplies, and transportation as determined by the principal, in consultation with the athletic directors and elementary sports liaisons, and the coaches at their schools. Expenditures at the school level shall be determined annually by mutual agreement between coaches and ADs/Sports Liaisons, with oversight by the Principal and PPC.

13-11.1. Sports Equity Funds

The BOARD and the UNION, through the Joint Sports Committee, will jointly advocate for supports and resources from professional sports organizations by seeking funding, developing strategic partnerships, and ensuring equitable distribution of resources to schools with the greatest need.
