5-2. Model Middle School Schedules

No later than January 1, 2026, the parties shall agree on model schedules, in accordance with Articles 4-2 and 5-2, that may allow for flexing up to three (3) teacher-directed professional development days throughout the academic year or exchange the equivalent amount of time within principal-directed preparation periods or principal-directed professional development days, or a combination of any of these. These models must be consistent with CPS’s guidelines for minimum instructional time during the school day.

The parties shall establish a Joint Committee on Elementary School Day Schedule Implementation and Review that will meet no less than quarterly to ensure successful implementation of these provisions.
